In our garden right now...

After a warm, humid and sunny day yesterday we've had almost a whole day of rain today. From the moment we awoke from slumber, to the moment we sat down for our evening meal, it rained without pause. Just before putting D to bed at 7pm, the rain clouds had gone elsewhere and we were left with a blue sky so me and him quickly put on our wellies and excitedly went out to pick ripe fruits which we had been eyeing up all day through the window.

We also found mushrooms but although i identified them as field mushrooms from my nature books i couldn't be sure so we put them back outside and into the compost bin. They did smell delightfully mushroomy though, mmmm.

Our garden path is looking so pretty at the moment, although a little soggy from the non stop Summer of rain. In April 2010 it was non existent and we had the most underwhelming back garden ever.

In June last year I laid all the slabs for the path and made the borders down either side of the garden.

By February this year I had added the edging to the path and the lavender and pinks were getting a little bigger.

By March this year we had early Spring flowers!

And right now we have lots of pretty pink blooms and i absolutely love it, alhamdulillah!

I look out onto the garden throughout every single day as we have those large patio doors in the living room and a big window over the sink in the kitchen.

And just so you know that I am not a master gardener, let me zoom out for a moment and you will see the full picture - over grown grass, random objects lying around, and a very messy greenhouse!

  1. So many pretty colors in your garden, Aqeela. I love the fuschias (I always have to look up how to spell that!) and I see you also have freesias, one of my favorites for their sweet scent.

    1. I love fruschias and freesias too, fruschias never seem to die and freesias are just so pretty - when i used to buy bunches of cut flowers id almost always buy them. (I had to keep checking your spellings to write this reply!)

  2. Is that a little greenhouse at the back of your garden?

    1. Weve just got the one main greenhouse, but at the end of our garden you can see the neighbours summer house over the top of the fence if thats what you mean? Our greenhouse is more of a cold house really! Too many broken pains of glass stuck together with sellotape!
