Our jungle....

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.  ~Mirabel Osler

Being out in the garden makes me really happy, its usually hard work, and I'm sometimes resistant to get out there, but once deeply engaged in whatever gardening task I'm undertaking, i enjoy it and am thankful.

Here's a few before and after shots of our 'jungle' - I'm not even half way through my project but its already looking like a garden again, alhamdulillah.

The plan is to plant lots of ferns and shade loving climbers, and have a bench tucked under there behind a 'wall' of ivy and some trellis or bamboo for privacy. I'l probably use three rose arches to kind of fence it off from the rest of the garden. I want it to be a secluded private place where i can sit in dappled shade in high summer and remove my scarf and feel the breeze in my roots.

Do you have garden plans for this year?

Well done YOU! It takes a mama to break her back like that. Plant some bluebells and snowdrops - nothing nicer in spring than seeing some trees surrounded by snowdrops and bluebellss. And have a little picnic area. And and and and..... will look really amazing when it's all finished.

Wow...what a difference! That area would be great as a woodland area and or a secret play garden. Are any of those trees strong enough for a tree swing?

Yes yes yes, spring bulbs definately!! And a fun area for D too, might be able to encourage (force) hubby to buy a play house this year!

Yay, good for you! You're hard work certainly paid off; the space looks perfect for so many of these ideas...I would have great difficulty in deciding, lol. I have never had a garden in my life before and am planning a make over project of our mud patch but find it all so daunting...too much to learn and put into practice all at once lol.

Do you think you will lift the slabs sis? If you are renting then just ask and perhaps the landlord will say its ok. I dont know why people would slab a whole garden, grrrr!
