Gifts...

I have some really great friends who i have met through Facebook - even though i resisted signing up for an account for many years, i will say that it has on the most part been good for me. I now have friends in real life who i originally met online, and still some friends who i only know online but who have become good friends. One of those friends sent me a lovely message a week or so ago and asked if she could send me a little gift, just something which she thought i would like. When people offer something like this to me i feel so overwhelmed and gracious, it is such a beautiful thing. So kind and generous, and thoughtful. The postman handed my parcel to me today and i ripped it open to find an unusual wall plate and a pretty floral trinket box. D ran off with the trinket box and stuffed it with ripped paper and got so into his game that i didn't want to pinch it back for a photograph, although I'm sure it will feature here soon. I went to the tool box, got out a nail and hammer and hung my plate by the front door so that i can see it every day insha'Allah.

Its above a little thermometer which i bought for about a pound a year or two ago. They are totally different in style yet look right together when you see them in the hallway like that.

I stuck the little note from my friend to the back of the plate with a little slip of washi tape so that i can always remember her lovely gesture toward me. I'm just figuring out how to return the kindness, i have a couple of ideas but I'm still not sure.

I do miss gifts, since giving up Christmas and Birthdays (and i guess since getting older too) there are very few presents to unwrap. But that makes D's presents all the more special, i absolutely love seeing him rip the paper and feel the rush of joy as he see's whats inside!

Beautiful gift, isn't it wonderful when something like that happens?

How interesting that they both have the same kind of leaves and similar pink and blue flowers. It's like they were meant to go together.

There seem to be a lot of of bloggers with FB accounts; in fact I've got one too but hardly ever go there. It's a good way to keep up with some of my non-blogger friends and family, even so.
